We booked the air tickets with Cathay Pacific during their promotion time to go back to Malaysia and as this airline company is from Hong Kong so we decided to stopover there since we never been to Hong Kong before. The discussion went on and on and one thing leads to another we somehow expand our journey to include Taipei! The trip doesn't stop there... we also planned for a short trip to Bali, Indonesia with my parents in Kuching. These three places are in our top priority places to visit.
Adding on top to our itinerary is the domestic trips within Malaysia. Going back home together has never been a straightforward journey for me and Frankie, as I come from Kuching, Sarawak and Frankie comes from Taiping, Perak.
Sound awful lots of flying. I wonder how many flight trips we will be taking. Here is the summary of our itinerary:

route map
30/11/07 (Fri) Depart from London to Hong Kong, arrive next day afternoon. Will spend 5 nights here.
06/12/07 (Thurs) Depart to Taipei. Will spend 4 nights here.
10/12/07 (Mon) Depart to Hong Kong and change flight to Penang, then to Taiping by car.

17/12/07 (Mon) Depart to KL, then change flight to Kuching. Frankie will only spend a night here then back to KL the next evening, spend a night in KL then back to Taiping. We will both in own hometown for few days.
25/12/07 (Tues) I will depart to KL and meet Frankie (as he drives from Taiping to pick me up). Will spend 2 nights here.
27/12/07 (Thurs) Back to Taiping
29/12/07 (Sat) Before we realise it is time to go back to London. Depart from Penang, connecting at KLIA, then Hong Kong then finally to London.
Seems quite a hectic journey but I am sure it will be fun, no doubt tiring. The holiday in Hong Kong, Taipei and Bali are the free and easy type, that's mean we only book the air tickets and hotels and there we go! Joining a tour has never come across my mind, I guess this is the modern travelling style favoured among younger generation. You plan where you want to go and when you want to go without relying on the tour guide.
The downside of not joining a tour is you got to plan it! This is exactly what I have been doing in the past 3-4 months. I hope the efforts will pay off and we have an unforgettable holiday!
